The Sustainability Ladders for Events are practical frameworks developed to help organisers and suppliers take concrete steps toward more sustainable and inclusive events, using a five-step growth model that brings together 13 ecological, social and governance themes.
Why
Sustainability can easily become abstract or overwhelming; the model was designed to motivate organisations to keep developing.
Contribution
I guided the editorial and design process of the Duurzaamheidsladder Evenementen (DLE) and Duurzaamheidsladder Zakelijke Evenementen (DLZ). My role was to make sure the ladder was both comprehensive and accessible — not just a policy tool, but something tangible that professionals can actually use in their day-to-day.
The DLE has since started to become a reference point in the outdoor and business section of events, and I’m personally really looking forward to the next iteration for the cultural sector.
